Publishing Deal - Tabitha Suzuma

Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma, published in the UK in May will be released in the US on 28 June 2011. From Booktrade:

Random House Children's Books UK is delighted to announce a deal for the right to publish FORBIDDEN by Tabitha Suzuma with Simon Pulse in the U.S. Simon Pulse is due to publish 28 June 2011.

Mary Marotta, VP, Director of Children's Sales comments: "I was drawn to Maya and Lochan's story from page one and this was probably one of the most angst ridden books I've read in awhile. Despite what I would typically think, I found myself rooting for them and wanting them to be together. The writing was superb and this would be on my recommended list of 'page turner, must be read in one sitting'!"

Annie Eaton, Publisher Fiction, RHCB, adds: "Tabitha Suzuma's heart-rending story of forbidden love is a compelling and inspired work. She guides the reader to an understanding of how a tender relationship can become something that is wrong, taboo and against society. This is a beautifully and sensitively told story, with characters you really believe in from the first page right up to the inevitable devastating conclusion."

FORBIDDEN is the incredibly compelling and heart wrenching love story of Maya, pretty, talented, sweet sixteen and never been kissed and Lochan, seventeen, gorgeous and on the brink of a bright future. But ...They are brother and sister.

Tabitha Suzuma is an award-winning author who never shies away from challenging subject matter for older readers. The book will contain a warning explaining that this is strictly for older readers.
